Parliament:
The Ratha Sapha (National Assembly)
has two chambers. The Saphaputhan Ratsadon (House of Representatives)
has currently 438 members, elected for a four year term, 100 members by proportional
representation and 338 members in multi-seat constituencies. The Wuthisapha
(Senate) has 200 members elected in single-seat constituencies. Only non-partisans
are allowed to run for office. The last elections were 4 march, 29 april,
4 june and 9 july 2000. The Election Commission disqualified some victors
on grounds of vote fraud.
